OBS - Convergence of Workplace Technologies
21st December, 2006
Convergence is very much a hot topic today, with stories in the media almost daily about the convergence of digital media, data and voice; the continuing convergence of Workplace technologies represents a similar trend.
Through the release of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, OBS are seeing the convergence of many pure play technologies into a single workplace technology platform. Key enabling technologies such as Portal, Document Management, Content Management and Search are tightly integrated into a single product, which not only reduces costs and complexity, but provides unprecedented integration capability between product features and services. OBS have been working with a number of major Australian businesses, including three of the four major banks to leverage this converged Microsoft platform to provide the next generation of business applications. By integrating Microsoft SharePoint technology with the Microsoft Office Systems 2007 suite, these businesses are able to provide a single technology experience to users across the enterprise, which increases ease of use, technology adoption and ultimately, return on investment.
The new Microsoft technology platform is set to ignite business innovation across the world, with technical and ease of use barriers significantly lowered.
