OBS does not take good fortune lightly and acknowledges that there are many groups and organisations in the Australian community who require charitable financial and volunteer assistance. With that in mind, OBS has implemented a philanthropic policy. The policy sets out the commitment OBS will make on an annual basis in the form of philanthropic donations of money, equipment and time. The philanthropic policy encourages OBS employees to undertake volunteer duties with an organisation of their choice. The volunteer duties are often undertaken in industry-related roles such as administration, IT implementation, support, and others relevant to employees’ skill sets. As an organisation, OBS has made commitments to Challenge Cancer and Microsoft Australia Unlimited Potential Community Portal.
Challenge Cancer
Challenge is Victoria’s major provider of support services for children and families living with cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders. OBS have been committed to assisting Challenge Cancer for the past 3 years. Using our technical expertise, OBS have provided Challenge with technical support and resources for hardware and software upgrades, server installations and an internet presence through donating time and technology to create the Challenge website and intranet.

Microsoft Australia Unlimited Potential Community Portal
The Microsoft Australia Unlimited Potential Community Portal is a locally driven, connected support system that provides over 160 Community Technology Learning Centres with access to practical and relevant information. This information enables community members to pursue lifelong learning and better meet their daily needs. OBS worked alongside Microsoft to develop and provide a portal that met the needs of community stakeholders including The Smith Family, Inspire Foundation, Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association, Yarnteen and WorkVentures.
