Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development launch their FUSE website that was built and deployed by OBS.
FUSE, an Australian education learning portal like no other which sets a new benchmark in the digital education revolution, was launched in mid February 2010 by Senator the Honourable Stephen Conroy, Federal Minister for Broadband, Communication and the Digital Economy.
OBS created the FUSE (Find, Use and Share Education) website which is a large-scale public facing site built on the Microsoft SharePoint platform. This technology underpinned the creation, delivery and discovery of high quality education content.
FUSE combines the resources of a number of Victorian cultural institutions along with quality content from providers such as Intel and The Learning Federation. ALL 75 000 Victorian Teachers have logins to author their own learning objects which they can then share with not only their own 500 000 Victorian students but also with anyone else – anywhere around the world.
“This has been a fantastic deployment for OBS to be involved in. We have been able to create a truly innovative solution that is based entirely on SharePoint technology” Brian Cook, CEO OBS explained.
Authored content can be instantly and freely shared with students. Quality content can then be submitted back into the system for use by the wider teaching community via the power of a highly tuned SharePoint Search system.
“FUSE has shown the results of OBS’s expertise in SharePoint technology. This site is a leader on the world stage” Andy Neumann, General Manager OBS said.
Major technology components of FUSE are its:
Fully customised search system
Unique content authoring experience
Triple-A accessibility requirement
Strict browser compatibility matrix
Fully utilised on SharePoint technology
